Imagine a world where design didn't exist. Now, imagine a world where data and science or communicated without any design thought behind it. We would quite honestly be living in a different world than the one we are in today. In Season three of the Design Atlas podcast, we will investigate how design can influence science and the way in which data and our earthly understanding is communicated to the masses.

Megan Luedke
We’ll rocket into the cosmos of outer space and uncover just how our earth has benefited through design coupled with in so many other disciplines. We'll meet guests from NASA's JPL, Adobe, ESA, and many other walks of life.

Guest Speaker
Nothing prepares you for just that. I don't know the enormity of that power, that energy that's underneath you. 7 million pounds of exploding rocket thrust to get you off the planet.

Guest Speaker
The way that I'm seeing my work is really like a bridge between the real source of the raw material that we have and the audience.

Guest Speaker
We design all the fictional technologies, interfaces, and holograms that you see in blockbuster film.

Guest Speaker
You can't see colour and basically anything in space, and it'll all be grey. Fuzzy blobs with the exception of the Orion Nebula.

Guest Speaker
Believing in yourself like unequivocally that you can achieve whatever you want to achieve, even when it feels like it's a pipe dream. It is so much more powerful than people realize.

Guest Speaker
When your work is a challenge, you know everything is there. You just feel very motivated. So, there was a lot of motivation was on my side, even if it was like a field of expertise that I had no clue about and also that I wasn't very good at because I was never really good science and stuff like this when I was young, you know?

Guest Speaker
You know, my love for space and the promise that it brings, that all originates in my early childhood.

Guest Speaker
It's intimidating and you have to be on your A-game. And they come at me with these questions and I'm just like, well, I always want to have an answer for them. And I'm but I'm also the first person to be like, you know what? I probably could have done it this way. And sometimes we have a discussion about it and things change.

Guest Speaker
I'm just really interested in solving problems and hopefully doing it in a way that has some poetry, something that that moves you, you know, then you feel like you've done something good for the day.

Guest Speaker
Humans are, by nature, really curious about things like, I don't know, like understanding how things work, looking up at the stars, wondering what's out there. It kind of like is really interesting to a lot of people at some sort of level. I guess it's curiosity in a way.

Megan Luedke
So, buckle up. It's going to be a wild ride as we navigate using our design atlas throughout our world and universe.

Neil Armstrong
At one step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
